Weezy was found with his mom, Magnolia Shorty, and 5 siblings in the 8th Ward of New Orleans. All the puppies are extremely sweet and happy. They appear to have been abandoned, not born feral, as they are not afraid of people, although they can be a tiny bit shy at first. They are very loving and active. Weezy is one of the more submissive of the puppies. He is also much, much smaller than his siblings, currently weighing in at only 4lbs (while his brothers and sisters are all 8-10lbs). All the puppies had intestinal parasites and fleas when they came into rescue but have been treated for that. They are otherwise healthy.
Although it's very hard to guess how big a puppy will end up, we estimate that Weezy will be in the 30-40lbs range. His mom appears to be a husky/shepherd mix and weighs about 45lbs. She is extremely sweet.
All the puppies will be ready to go home in about 3-4 weeks when they have received additional vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered and chipped. We are taking applications on the puppies now!
